男三

對我來說,男三倒是煙霧瀰漫的(香煙加上蛋餅的油煙...)。

大四課少,基本上沒事就是跟OLB往男三跑,我們待在地下室的時間比起在系館來的多。有幾次開玩笑的說我們是要去進行「摩擦力與碰撞之研究」,同學們還以為這真是我們專題研究的內容。

下部隊之後的週末行程大概是這樣的:傍晚六點出營區、六點半到機場、八點下飛機、八點半到家、八點四十五出門、九點左右到男三、五點到復興南路吃燒餅油條、六點回家開始補眠。為了減輕當時的壓力,似乎跟著大伙在男三廝混是最好的解脫!從中秋盃、光復盃打到元旦盃,從陸光隊打到榮工隊,數饅頭的日子好像過的不那麼喘不過氣。

在試玩Wii後全身酸痛失眠的夜晚,特發此文,遙念那一去不回的青春。

Baklava

已經在這裏待了太久,大家還是默契十足的假裝什麼事都沒有。:)

今天中午吃完pizza後,Kathy端出一盤不知名的東西,大伙兒話題立刻轉到這道中東甜品上。從發音、拼字,到做法、材料,才發現這其實頗為普遍,主要是用酥皮、果仁加上蜂蜜所做成,上面綠色的點綴是開心果末。Google了半天,這東西在中文叫做「果仁蜜餅」、或是直譯的「拔克拉弗餅」。Wikipeida查到的簡介如下:


Baklava is a rich, sweet pastry found in many cuisines of the Middle East, South Asia, and the Balkans and originating in Ottoman cuisine. It is made of chopped nuts, usually walnuts or pistachios, layered with phyllo pastry, sweetened with sugar or honey syrup. In Turkey, it is particularly associated with the city of Gaziantep.

Day 3 - Downtown Atlanta

原本打算星期六(11/27)要開車到Savannah去拜訪之前的同事,但因考慮單趟四小時的車程而作罷。好不容易連絡上了S之前在Boston的同學,原來他們在感恩節當天晚上七點左右,便已到了Bestbuy前為了Black Fridayh的大採購排隊,也難怪星期五白天一整天都沒法連絡上他們。原本他們建議一起去北邊一個小城(Helen)看看;不過,聊天之後發現他們也沒去過CNN與World of Coca Cola,便相約星期六一起在市中心繞繞。

研究了地圖,決定先開車到Buckhead的Lenox Square吃個早餐,再搭乘MARTA(Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority)進城。一大早在Buckhead開車繞了幾圈,似乎沒看到什麼早餐店,整體看起來比較像是商業區的感覺。好不容易在mall的二樓看到了間沒吃過的Corner Bakery,坐了下來。沒想到,點的二客早餐都頗為可口!尤其是用Raisin Cinnamon Toast做成的French Toast,鬆鬆軟軟中還帶點口感!真可惜在北加州沒有分店。

從書上翻閱得到的資訊,Atlanta市區的觀光景點主要有CNN、World of Coca Cola、Georgia Aquarium和Centennial Olympic Park。打算先去CNN及Coca Cola,途中去Olympic Park走走,Georgia Aquarium就等到星期一人少一點再去。CNN是Atlanta當初911恐怖攻擊時的目標之一(另一個是Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, CDC)。可能是太受注意,也有可能是怕影響節目進行,tour中不能拍照,進去參觀前還先得安全檢查。以下是自CNN網站上擷取下來的簡介及照片:

按著地圖指示,步行了差不多二十分鐘,加上排了近30分鐘的隊,我們走進了World of Coca Cola。前面大概就是一些可口可樂歷史的展示,也包括了世界各地不同包裝的可樂。播放室裏不停放映著從二十世紀初期到現在的廣告片段。最後有各地各種可口可樂的產品無限暢飲,朋友一直警告我們,其中有一種苦的,得最後再試比較好,找了半天,才發現那是義大利當地的產品(Beverly, Italy Bitter Aperitif)。

今天最大的驚奇,莫過於晚上去的這間餐廳 - Dante's Down the Hatch(船艙下的Dante?)!從網路上得知,這是間「燈光美、氣氛佳」的爵士樂餐廳,真正走進去之後,才發現整個餐廳的裝璜極為特別!進門的左手邊是一艘船,右手邊則是裝璜成港口一般,很符合最近最流行的海盜風。餐廳主要的菜色是Fondue,我們開胃菜點了個常見的Cheese Fondue(*),主餐則各點了Madarin Fondue(**)及Vegetable Fondue,料理送上來後,才發現是給我們熱油,當場deep-fry盤中的各式材料!最後,還點了服務生推薦的二道甜點:Pecan Pie & Cheese Cake。時間稍晚一點,整間餐廳差不多坐滿,jazz的現場演奏也在八點多開始。人聲鼎沸熱鬧的感覺,就像置身港邊小酒館一般。整體說來,份量不多、餐點不算便宜,但以氣氛裝璜來說,實在是不虛此行!
